Ursus is a 65% symmetrical 0.75U WKL computer keyboard with digital (MX) and analog (EC) functionality. The initial concept design was surfaced in March of 2025. The Geekhack interest check post was published in May 2025. In December of 2025 a private group buy took place for a limited cherry lip variant of the Ursus, which was fulfilled in July of 2026. The Public group buy is set to take place in August of 2026. The design of Ursus takes elements from architecture, putting a heavy emphasis on pragmatic design, as opposed to purely aesthetic design choices. Ursus is designed to have no adhesive parts, and instead replaces parts like adhesive foam gasket strips, adhesive feet, etc. with friction fit o-ring gaskets and feet. In the realm of computer keyboards, Ursus is more of an avant garde design, while keeping a footing in pragmatism in terms of feature implementation and quality of life
Ursus is comprised of a stainless steel weight, an aluminium bottom/mid piece, and a choice of either an aluminium or a polycarbonate top housing. All of the parts are first polished to rid them of tooling marks, after which they are sandblasted to a matte finish. The aluminium parts go through anodizing as the final surface treatment, while the stainless steel and polycarbonate parts retain their natural material finish. The choice of materials used for Ursus put an emphasis on acoustics and weight, while the finishing choices blend lasting finishes with muted cold tones.
Ursus is designed to have both digital (MX) and analog (EC) functionality through separate switch plate and PCB options. Both the MX PCB and the EC PCB use an assortment of high-end Murata, Nexperia and Panasonic passive and active components, while the EC PCB has additional high end analog sensing components from Texas Instruments. The MX switch plate material options consist of 1.6mm polycarbonate and aluminium, whereas the EC switch plate is limited to 1.2mm stainless steel.
